HR Generalist - Belgium Employment Law


You'll help people find their way in the world. In 2004, TomTom revolutionized how the world moves with the introduction of the first portable navigation device. Now, we intend to do it again by engineering the first-ever real-time map, the smartest and most useful map on the planet.

This role will partner effectively with our HR business partners, HR MT, line managers, HR Service Desk, and various other functions within the TomTom HR organization. You will work with the global ER team (based in Amsterdam, Ghent, Lodz, Berlin, Pune, and US to support the TomTom growth strategy for the future. In this role, you will be assigned the country's Belgium and France. You will bring high-quality, consistent, fair, and clear advice on employee relations and legal compliance in TomTom's approach to employees. This will be achieved through advising on internal HR policies and procedures, local labor law, and employee life cycle issues from hiring to exit whilst maintaining a constructive working relationship with the HR headquarters based in Amsterdam.

  • Provide expert advice on local labor law matters and ensure legal compliance with local employment regulations.
  • Support individual cases such as illness, underperformance, and terminations, providing guidance and assistance to employees and managers.
  • Develop and implement global and local wellbeing initiatives, promoting a positive workplace culture that prioritizes mental and physical health.
  • Mentor and guide managers and employees on conflict handling and grievance resolution.
  • Support the rollout of HR programs with regional or global impact
  • Provide day-to-day advisory and coaching to managers on several aspects of human resources, including employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
  • Be a contact person for the Works Councils on all aspects of the HR agenda
  • Manage restructurings and reorganizations, ensuring that all employees are treated fairly and in accordance with local employment laws and regulations

  • What you'll need Have extensive knowledge of employment law in Belgium
  • 4+ years of experience employee relations, HR Generalist, or similar role
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in employee relations, including performance management, grievance handling, and terminations
  • Coaching employees and management through complex and difficult cases
  • You are fluent in English and Dutch (Written & Spoken)
  • What's nice to have Knowledge and experience in Agile HR
  • Knowledge of France employment law
  • The ability to speak French
  • International work experience
